Agama Yoga Mexico can be found in the charming and sleepy little beach town of Mazunte, on the Pacific coast of Oaxaca state in Southern Mexico.
Getting To Mazunte
Being off the major tourist trail is what gives Mazunte its laid back and authentic atmosphere. But this does mean that getting here is a little bit more of an adventure! In reality, it is a simple journey that requires that the final stage is on local transport. If you dont speak Spanish, don’t be put off. All you need to tell the driver of the ‘camioneta’ or taxi is “Mazunte” and he will deliver you here safely.
From Mexico City:
By Plane: From Mexico City it is possible to get a flight to Huatulco or Puerto Escondido (see below for further information).
By Bus: Busses can be taken to either Oaxaca City or Potchutla (see below for further information).
From Oaxaca City:
Take a bus to Potchutla. There are two options for this – either the 1st class tourist bus that takes a slightly longer but less winding route, or a regular minibus that is faster but takes the winding mountain roads (see below for further information).
From Puerto Escondido:
You can take a bus for about 40 pesos from in front of the Super Che supermarket. A more expensive bus also leaves from the bus station. Ask the driver to drop you off at Las Cruces de San Antonio. From here you can take taxi or collectivo (trucks with blue tarp roofing over back) for 5 pesos.
From Huatulco airport:
Take a private taxi directly or a shared taxi to Pochutla and transfer to Mazunte there. For the private taxi, we recommend that you walk the 200 meters to the road as they are significantly cheaper. With good bargaining you can pay around 300 pesos. On reaching the street, the direction would be to your right. The bus to Pochutla also passes that way (see below for further information).
From Potchutla:
From Potchutla you can either take a private or shared Taxi for around 100 pesos (for the whole car), or a local collectivo for around 10 pesos.
Finding Agama Yoga
When you arrive in Mazunte, walk along the main street with the ocean on your right. You will pass the Turtle Center, also on your right, and soon after the road will begin to climb a short incline. We are located at the peak of the hill. If you start going downhill again, you have gone too far.
